Objectives of the Program:

We aim to train the next generation of leaders in endocrine surgery.

Highlights of the Fellowship:

Our fellowship is part of a high volume endocrine surgery program with several distinct features. The fellow has exposure to four sites: a high volume quaternary care center, a public hospital with a fellow run clinic and OR, a private practice setting, and a VA hospital. The fellow will also get exposure to one of the highest volume Transoral endocrine surgery programs in the country. In addition we have a high volume of thyroid radiofrequency ablations. There is also ongoing NIH funded research that the fellow is welcome to participate in as well.

Average Thyroid Case Volume: 100
Average Parathyroid Case Volume: 100
Average Adrenal Case Volume: 20

Neuroendocrine Tumors (NET)

Number of evaluation & Management of NET (enteric and pancreatic only) cases per year: 10
Number of operative NET (enteric and pancreatic only) cases per year: 10
Number of NET case discussions per year: 5

The fellow has an opportunity to participate in a Multidisciplinary NET (enteric and pancreatic only) Tumor Board which meets monthly.

If the fellow desires, there is an internal opportunity to engage in a more robust NET experience with a rotation with the hepatobiliary service, which is optional but would provide a much larger PNET experience.

International Medical Graduates

Our program is not able to accept international applicants at this time.

Special Considerations:

One fellowship position is offered each year, with the potential for extension to a second year to focus on further research and academic development. Candidates should be board eligible in general surgery and should apply through the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons fellowship match.
